How to Choose Suitable Castable Refractory Material?
(1) Select the nature of castable refractory material based on the environment of the equipment. For example, choose magnesia materials for alkaline conditions, silica materials for acidic conditions, and high-alumina or corundum refractory castables for neutral conditions.
(2) Based on the operating temperature, select cheaper clay products for areas with no abrasion requirements at around 1000 degrees. For temperatures below 1400 degrees, choose high-alumina products, and for temperatures below 1700 degrees, choose corundum products. For around 2000 degrees, special refractory castables must be selected.
(3) For wear-prone areas, choose products with good wear resistance, such as castable refractories, high-alumina wear-resistant castables, corundum silicon carbide castables, and steel fiber wear-resistant refractory castables.
(4) Use lightweight refractory castables for the insulation layer, considering factors such as load-bearing structure, reducing furnace shell temperature, and minimizing heat loss. Different density insulation castables can be chosen, generally opting for a density of 1.2. If there are weight requirements, insulation castables with a density of 0.6-1.0 should be selected.
(5) Choose acid-resistant or lightweight insulation castables for chimney areas.
(6) For less critical areas, ordinary refractory castables can be used for casting.
